Tobacco Regulation

A Tobacco Compliance Officer works with all retailers of tobacco products to ensure that they comply with the legislation contained in the Public Health (Tobacco) Act. This relates to how tobacco products can be stored and sold and a key component is to make sure tobacco products are not sold to under 18’s. This legislation also includes e-cigarettes.

Information is also available about where smoking is now prohibited under amendments to the Smoke Free Environment Act. These include children’s playgrounds, transport stops and sporting grounds.
