COVID-19 Vaccinations

COVID-19 vaccinations available for children aged 5-11

COVID-19 vaccination appointments are now available for children aged 5-11. Parents/guardians are encouraged to book an appointment for their child/ren as soon as possible. To book an appointment visit the Australian Government's Vaccine Clinic Finder. Special peadiatric days are held for children in this age group at SNSWLHD vaccination clinics. The days are listed below under the SNSWLHD vaccination clinic details.

Vaccinations are also available at GP clinics, Aboriginal Medical Services and pharmacies across the district. To find one near you and book an appointment visit the Australian Government's Vaccine Clinic Finder.

The Pfizer (Comirnaty) paediatric vaccine is the approved COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11 in Australia. The dose is around 1/3 of the adult (12+) dose. Children will receive two doses of the vaccine, given eight weeks apart. In certain circumstances, the second dose can be brought forward to three weeks after the first dose, such as in an outbreak response, prior to the initiation of significant immunosuppression or before international travel.

For more information visit the NSW Health COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 - 11 years old webpage.

Booking COVID-19 vaccinations at a SNSWLHD clinic

The NSW Health Vaccination Administration Management Platform (VAM) is available to book first, second and booster-dose COVID-19 vaccination appointments at a NSW Health vaccination clinic. The platform can be accessed directly or through the Australian Government's Vaccine Clinic Finder when a NSW Health clinic is selected. It allows the public to book and manage their COVID-19 vaccination themselves or for their family, such as choosing the NSW Health vaccination clinic they wish to visit for first, second and booster doses, as well as the date and time of their appointment.

People can also view, reschedule or cancel appointments themselves. The system is user-friendly, and after making an appointment the user is given a QR code to check-in with at the appointment. This speeds up the administration process at the vaccination clinic.

Information about using the platform and frequently asked questions can be viewed here.

If you are having trouble booking an appointment online, you can call the SNSWLHD COVID-19 Support Line on 1800 318 248. Select option 2 and one of our friendly staff members will book an appointment for you.
