HIV cannot be cured however treatment is available and will lead to better health. Treatment is available from local sexual health services, infectious diseases specialists and specially trained GPs.
Treatment involves taking tablets every day to reduce the amount of virus in your body.

ACON is a New South Wales based health promotion organisation specialising in HIV prevention, HIV support and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) health. ACON help people with HIV take control of their health, as well as the health of their partners, by providing up-to-date information and education as well as a range of programs and services including: workshops, peer support and counselling.
Positive Life NSW works to promote a positive image of people living with and affected by HIV with the aim of eliminating prejudice, isolation, stigma and discrimination. Positive Life NSW provide information, targeted referrals and advocate to change systems and practices that discriminate against people living with HIV (PLHIV), our partners, friends, family and carers in NSW.
Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF) is Australia’s longest-running HIV charity. Founded in 1984, BGF undertakes a range of support and interventions that address key determinants of poor health outcomes for people living with HIV (PLHIV). BGF provides direct financial and practical assistance, emotional support, financial counselling, housing, study and employment support to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people living with HIV in New South Wales
Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service (MHAS) works with culturally diverse communities and with health services in NSW to reduce the impacts of HIV and viral hepatitis.
MHAHS produce a comprehensive range of resources about HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C testing, treatment, prevention and support in a number of languages. The resources are free and available to individuals and all our allied agencies on our website.
