Midwifery Student Application for Recruitment and Training (MidStART)

NSW Health provides a career pathway called MidStART, for registered nurses to become registered midwives. The program involves employment as a student midwife in a NSW public health facility while undertaking a postgraduate midwifery diploma at university. Recruitment is carried out annually between June and September for all training positions in the following year.

GradStart and Midwifery GradStart Recruitment Campaign 

NSW Health provides a centralised web-based annual recruitment scheme for graduate registered nurses and midwives to apply for employment in NSW public hospitals.

NSW Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Strategy

The Strategy aims to improve Aboriginal health by providing opportunities for Aboriginal people to gain education and employment opportunities in the field of nursing and midwifery. It also aims to work with the current NSW nursing and midwifery workforce to provide better health services to Aboriginal people through the delivery of culturally safe and competent nursing and midwifery services.
