Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme

The NSW Ministry of Health is offering a comprehensive incentive package focused on the recruitment and retention of staff in areas of critical need in rural and remote NSW.

We have incentives for you to help join our rural and remote facilities.

These incentives are available for select positions. Positions eligible for the incentive package will be advertised on NSW Health jobs and eligible roles will clearly state this in the advertisement.

 

What incentives are on offer?

  • Accommodation support
  • Up to $10,000 sign on bonus (dependant on position and location).
  • $6000 per year aged care bonus
  • Exposed to all facets of hospital care – emergency department, ward, aged care
  • Certified in Triage, FLECC, ALS
  • 482 temporary visa sponsorship considered
  • Salary Packaging – up to $9,000 for living expenses + $2,600 meal & entertainment + $9,000 remote area housing + novated leasing
  • Subsidised gym membership
  • Leadership development programs

 

FAQ

What are the new incentives?

Apply for a specific role in select rural and remote NSW locations and you could receive:

  • $5,000 - $10,000 sign on bonus (amount depends on position and location)
  • $6,000 aged care incentive for RNs in aged care facilities
  • Up to $20,000 off your HECs debt for Allied Health professionals
  • Relocation benefits eg moving costs, family travel assistance
  • Accommodation assistance
  • Additional leave for professional development

What positions/locations are available?

Positions and locations receiving incentives are subject to certain criteria that can change over time.  To see an up-to-date list of the positions attracting incentives please visit our jobs portal.

How do I know it is an incentivised role?

‘Incentives Offered’ will be clearly displayed in the advertisement.

How long do I need to stay?

We'd love to you make Southern NSW your home, and enjoy a long career with our Local Health District, however if you need to leave our organisation before you have spent 18 months in an incentivised role, you will need to repay some or all of the incentive payment and relocation expenses.

Do existing staff receive incentives too?

Absolutely.  If your role is deemed hard to fill then you will also receive the retention bonus according to your facilities remoteness.  If you are not receiving this please talk to your manager.
