Donna Skelly, Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Crookwell Hospital

Donna Skelly is a Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist based at Crookwell Hospital. She enjoys the challenge of working in a small rural hospital. Unlike larger facilities that have access to medical emergency teams or staff specialists, the challenge of responding to a variety of presentations and continuously learning making sure we keep ourselves up to date, to be able to help people in need is truly gratifying.

Donna commenced as an enrolled nurse in 1990, before become a registered nurse and now in her current role as a Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist. Study has featured heavily in her career and she continues to do so.

Donna commented that she was always drawn to nursing, even as a school girl. “I never really considered any other career. Nursing has been very good to me. It has provided me with many memories, some sad and some fantastic. It has allowed me the flexibility to juggle family and work, particularly when my children were younger and has provided me with the opportunity to work with a wide range of people, many of whom have become friends.”

“Nursing is very rewarding. We often see people in what can be the worst day/s of their life and it is extremely satisfying to know that you have helped someone even in the smallest of ways. It is a privilege to be involved in someone’s life especially when they are most vulnerable.”
