Two COVID-19 cases confirmed in Southern NSW

Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has confirmed two cases of COVID-19 have been formally identified within the District. SNSWLHD is working closely with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services as the two cases are visitors from Victoria and connected with the Melbourne COVID-19 cluster.

Southern NSW Local Health District Public Health Unit has started contacting patrons of the following identified venues, advising them to self-isolate for 14 days from when they were last with the confirmed case:

Great Southern Hotel

158 Imlay St Eden

Wednesday 30 December

5pm – 6.30pm

Bermi’s Beachside Café

2/4 Lamont St, Bermagui

Thursday 31 December

9am – 10am

If you were present at these venues, during the times listed, please wait for public health to contact you. A dedicated testing facility has been organised for venue and case contacts to ensure priority access to testing. The public health team will provide this information.

Southern NSW Local Health District is working with pathology providers and local teams to increase access to testing. In addition to the usual testing clinics, the following locations will be operational from 2 January 2021:

  • Bega South East Regional Hospital 8:00am to 7:00pm
  • Bermagui Dickinson Oval, 2 Wallaga Street Bermagui 10:00am to 3:00pm
  • Eden Community Health Twofold car park, Bass Street Eden, 10:00am to 2:00pm

There is no longer a requirement to schedule appointments at most of the District’s COVID-19 testing sites. Callers are encouraged to register with the triage service prior to attending the clinics to decrease waiting times. Callers to the SNSWLHD 1800 999 880 COVID line will be provided with information on testing eligibility and clinic times and locations as well as supported to register for their local clinic.
