Local organisations and individuals with an interest in improving the health of the Goulburn community can now apply for a grant through a new funding initiative.
Goulburn Local Solutions Grants, a new program by Southern NSW Local Health District, will fund community-driven preventative health initiatives.
The grants are open to individuals or organisations with an interest in helping Goulburn to become a healthier community.
Grants of up to $15,000 are available for new approaches to promote healthy lifestyles through changing community attitudes and behaviour or creating environments that support people to make healthier choices.
Health Promotion Coordinator at Southern NSW Local Health District, Emma Woolley, said the grants aimed to uncover community-led approaches to improve the health of Goulburn and surrounds.
“This project aligns with the vision of our Local Health District and supports the NSW Healthy Eating & Active Living Strategy,” Ms Woolley said.
“It also supports the Premier’s Priority to reduce the overweight and obesity rates of children by five percentage points by 2025.”
In 2018/19, NSW Health will invest $38 million to tackle obesity, $25 million of which has been allocated specifically to fight childhood obesity.
